 Why Choose Hospice Care

While many might choose to receive end of life care in their homes, this may not be possible in a variety of circumstances. Not all of us have families who are able to provide the physical and emotional support needed in order to assure comfort while using in-home hospice services. Symptoms may need to be addressed in a medical setting that provides 24 hour professional care.

The Community Need

A feasibility study conducted by an independent consultant documented the need for 45 inpatient hospice beds to meet the needs of the Hampton Roads community. There are no inpatient beds available in a free-standing, purpose-built facility in Hampton Roads. As the largest underserved metropolitan area in the country with regard to inpatient hospice care, the need is urgent and requires that we address this gap in medical care as soon as possible.
